The media NEW JAZZ FRANCE launched a contest where participants could submit a cover design for the second volume of their flagship project, which features the most refined artists of the French scene.
We decided to participate by creating a cover that aligns with the new jazz universe. The essential elements for us were the saxophone as the central piece, along with one or two references to France. We used artificial intelligence as well as Canvas to create a high-quality final image.
Here are our creation steps:
To begin, we started with a painting in the style of Van Gogh that features a saxophone prominently in the foreground, accompanied by a group of artists holding saxophones to reference the various artists featured on the compilation.
We really liked the layout proposed in this prompt. The objective for this second step is to maintain the same layout and focus on the background by adding the streets of Paris to better align with the project’s universe.

For this prompt, the visuals were heavily affected, transforming into a very military, war-like atmosphere, which did not align with our vision.
However, we appreciated the saxophone stand and the arrangement of the characters.
The new solution is to move away from the city aspect and instead create a space-themed background, with the saxophonist groups dressed elegantly, like musicians in an orchestra.

To conclude, we kept the structure holding the saxophone, outlined it, and included it in the final image. For the final setting, we created a prompt of a concert in the Marvel Endgame universe with the Eiffel Tower in the background.
Next, filtering and color grading options allowed us to achieve a final cover as close as possible to our vision.
Finally, we corrected the saxophone, which was not accurately represented in the previous images.
